They voted for us at Australian Bridal Industry Academy website and with a score 99.43% we came 4th in NSW. Not too bad with 108 nominees in our category.

A bit of information about ABIA.

The Annual Bridal Industry Awards are State awards held each year to determine the best wedding suppliers in NSW, VIC, QLD and WA.

These awards are determined by past brides who have been through the process of selecting their bridal suppliers and have then rated them on the quality of products, service, value and staff.

To determine the nominees and finalists, the brides were asked to give scores out of 100 for the quality of product, quality of service, value for money and attitude of the staff of those suppliers who serviced the needs of the bride before, during and after her wedding day.

Merivale is dressing its two wedding party venues – The Sun Room and The Ivy Room – in their glamorous best for a bridal open day with a difference.

On Sunday 18^th April , we invite all brides-to-be to spend a few hours seeing how their own wedding party could look while experiencing the luxurious style and service that Merivale is renowned for. Brides can sip champagne and sample delicacies created by Merivale executive chef David O’Brien while viewing Nightingales Wedding Stylists’ handiwork in The Ivy Room and how Events by Nadia Wedding Stylist worked its magic in The Sun Room.

But that’s not all we are also inviting Sydney’s favourite wedding suppliers to show off their wares. Brides can try Planet Cake’s delicious wedding cakes. See the bespoke bride and groom miniatures created by Alison from Captivating Cake Toppers.

We will also bring together a stunning collection of designer bridal gowns by Louise Alvarez. Brides can view the work of Sydney’s top photographers Silver Boat and Brett Odgers and videographer Sonya from DaTreats Productions, talk to the styling team from  Brad Ngata, have their love tarot read by Cimone-Louise Fung and tailor wedding vows with the help of celebrant Cassandra Keogh.

There are also the little extras that go towards making a wedding day simply unforgettable: French-inspired gifts from famed bridal registry Genevieve Lethu, bridal gifts from Something Blue, scents from Jo Malone and luxurious Queen B candles.

It was becoming clear that people wanted to see real life reflected in their wedding photos, wanted to re-live the day when looking at their pictures. As technology gradually began to evolve, photographers gained more freedom, particularly with the rise of digital methods. Photojournalistic style started to influence wedding photography and instantly became very popular. Followers of this style, also known as “fly on the wall”, tried to document weddings like documentaries, with no posed shots. Some of the best photojournalistic wedding photographers are Americans Dennis Reggie and Joe Buissink (getting one of these guys to photograph a wedding could cost up to US$50, 000…).

However not everyone is ready to have a wedding album resembling a “National Geographic” issue. Contemporary photographers often experiment and try to achieve various artistic effects. Whilst such a photographer wouldn’t necessarily be a ‘fly on the wall’ and you could easily spot them staging their shots, the results could be Vogue-style glamour portraits, vivid wide angle shots with breathtaking landscapes or original close-ups and creative details. To get the feel of this style you can take a look at the web sites of Yervant, Jerry Gionis or Marcus Bell. These guys are all Australian and are the best in this style of wedding photography.

In real life a good wedding photographer usually tries to mix both styles to suit each couple’s demands and expectations. At least that is what we try to achieve in our job and what we over the years have found to be the most satisfying way of working with our clients.
